People are what VSO Canada is all about - and you just might be one of them. We're about people who make a decision to share their skills in developing countries - about people who change lives.

VSO Canada is proud to be a national partner of VSO, the world's largest independent international development agency working through volunteers. Since 1958, more than 29,000 men and women have participated in VSO by sharing their skills alongside people in developing countries, working with them to realize their true potential.

VSO began over 40 years ago by sending its first volunteers overseas from England. We've continued to evolve and adapt in response to the changing needs of our partners in the developing world. VSO Canada is part of an international network that links us with VSO UK, VSO Netherlands, and now, a unique South-South initiative with VSO Kenya and VSO Philippines. Our support to volunteers is strengthened through VSO Program Offices in most of the countries in which volunteers are placed.

The volunteer experience is a life-changing one. I know from my own experience, as a volunteer in Malawi, that a decision to work with a community to reach their development goals is unique and fundamentally rewarding.

I encourage you to consider how you can make a difference. You might go overseas through our volunteer sending program, or you might be eligible for a youth internship through NetCorps Canada International. If so, I guarantee you will echo the thoughts of many of our Returned Volunteers when they say that they got back so much more from the experience than they could possibly give.

Your support could also be of a different nature - we invite you to partner with us as a donor. Your gift can help us to meet the requests of southern partners around the world for skilled volunteers.
