Please Note: VSO Canada experienced difficulties with online application forms and email messages sent between Thursday, August 14 and Tuesday, August 19, 2003. If you applied online to VSO during this time and have not received a response from us, please contact our .
If you are interested in volunteering overseas with VSO Canada, you must complete a VSO application form. Upon receipt of your completed application form, you can expect to hear from us within one month.
VSO Canada is able to accept applications only from people with unrestricted access to Canada or the United States. If you do not meet this specification and are interested in volunteering, please visit the VSO UK website.
At the application stage, we look for qualifications, work experience and personal circumstances against a set of criteria. If these criteria are met, we will invite you to attend a VSO Canada Assessment Day, in either Ottawa or Vancouver, which looks more closely at your personal suitability to the challenges of living and working in a developing country.
VSO Canada will cover the costs of your transportation to attend an Assessment Day. However, we ask you to keep in mind that we are a charitable organization and any expense claims that you are able to forgo are tremendously appreciated.
VSO welcomes applications from people with disabilities, and seeks to enable you to fully participate in our volunteer assessment process. For this reason, we request that you inform us of your needs prior to attending an Assessment Day. The Assessment Day requires some physical activity, and we request that applicants with restricted mobility notify us in advance so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
VSO application forms are available in large print and on audio tape. A reader and writer service and sign language interpreters can be arranged upon request.
Please choose your preferred method of applying from the options above.
