Resettlement Weekends
If you have not already done so, you might like to attend a Resettlement Weekend - usually scheduled 6 - 12 months after your return from overseas. Contact to find out about upcoming Resettlement Weekends.
Stay involved!
We hope that your involvement with VSO continues after your overseas placement is over. There is so much you can still do in Canada:
- VSO holds recruitment and information events such as Meet VSOs in cities across Canada. You might consider attending or perhaps organizing one of these events, and sharing your experience as an intern or volunteer. Please contact for more information.
- You may wish to become a Volunteer Selector for VSO Canada - you will remember meeting selectors when you went through your own Assessment Day. Contact for more information.
- We are looking for trainers to facilitate sessions and speakers to offer personal perspectives of their overseas experience for Preparing for Change (PFC) weekends, held in Ottawa. Returned volunteers and interns should be willing to share their experiences and ideas about living and working overseas, answer questions and be able to give a balanced view of their VSO experience. Contact for more information.
- As a returned volunteer/intern, we encourage you to be an ambassador for VSO Canada in your community. Interested in doing some local outreach on our behalf? Please send your current contact information to for details about staying involved locally.
- Join the free online discussion group. Chat with other returned volunteers/interns and learn about the trends and activities shaping international development. This is a great networking opportunity! To join, send a blank email to
- Access information and resources through the new RV Zone available on the VSO UK website.
- Join a local group. These groups of volunteers are led by and for their members, and they work to promote and discuss international issues and to support the work of VSO. Take a look at upcoming events being organized by local groups. To contact a local group directly, choose one of the cities below, or contact for more information on starting a group in another city:

"VSO provided for me a window on the world that I had neither imagined, nor appreciated. I quickly learned the need to communicate and to work with others, regardless of colour, creed, education or background. This has stood me in good stead all my life."
